Supplies to Have on Hand Checklist

There are certain supplies a dementia caregiver should never be without. Some of these items are just handy to have around, some of them make life easier, and some of them would be essential in case of an emergency. Use this checklist as recommendations for your “Must Have List.”

Backup supplies of:
  • Toilet Paper
  • Paper Towels
  • Laundry Soap
  • Dish Soap
  • Bath Soap
  • Feminine Hygiene Products
  • Shampoo
  • Paper/Disposable products (paper plates, plastic forks, spoons, knives, etc.)
  • Zipper top bags in several sizes
  • Baby wipes
  • Incontinence products, including furniture covers

Spare pairs of:
  • Eyeglasses
  • Prescription Sunglasses
  • Hearing Aids
  • Hearing Aid Batteries

  • Flashlight with spare batteries

  • Cell Phone (fully charged every night)

  • Easy to put on, patterned clothing (hides stains better)

  • Enough socks and underwear to last each family member 10 days

  • Enough medication to last at least 30 days, PLUS copies of prescriptions in case the medications are lost or damaged

    • Canned Meats
    • Canned Fruits
    • Canned Vegetables
    • Crackers
    • Snack Items

    • Bottled Water
    • Nutritional Supplements
















    Important Documents Folder
    • Copies of Powers of Attorney Documents
    • Copies of Living Will, Advance Directive
    • Copies of Insurance Cards (health, automobile, etc.)
    • Copies Social Security cards/Medicare cards
    • List of all Contact Information for friends, relatives, attorneys, physicians, insurance companies
    • List of all Current Medications
    • Alzheimer’s Association Contact Information
    • Current Photos of the Dementia Patient PLUS a List of Descriptive Information
