About Us: Who is DementiaCaregiving101.com?

Dementia Caregiving 101 is the joint project of Paula Farris and Lanette Stultz. Paula and Lanette are sisters who shared in the responsibilities of cargiving for their Mother, Delorice, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in March 2008. She passed away in September 2008 after a battle with blood clots.

Paula is the oldest of the two sisters (there are also 2 other sisters, Cheryl and Andrea.) She has been married to Sam for 20+ years. They have four children, Jeremiah 21, Keenan 17, Anna 14, and Henry 3. They live in Mesa, AZ.

Paula and her family lived right around the corner from Mom and were very active in her care, taking her to Dr. appointments, helping make medical decisions, handling some of the financial decisions, acting as Power of Attorney, spending time with Mom while her husband attended to various medical appointments, etc.

Lanette lives in Denver and was a long distance caregiver. Because of the flexibility in her employment and financial situation she was able to travel to Arizona quite often to help with Mom’s care and to provide Paula with much needed breaks.

They both treasure the time they were able to give to their Mom. Spending the last several months (and years) helping to make her as comfortable, useful, and loved as possible was time well spent.

Paula does the writing for Dementia Caregiving 101 and Lanette helps with the technical end of things as well as providing ideas and insight into the various topics on the site. They both look forward to serving you and making your Dementia Caregiving journey easier and more fulfilling.
